SENDING INSPIRATION
The idea
There's something about receiving a gift, made and addressed just for you, that brings people a simple joy in life. There's something about a handwritten card that sends a personalized touch of caring and connection that people need. Often we don't notice we "need" it until we get it. How often do people receive these kinds of momentary uplifting messages that we need to hear? Maybe not often enough. So many minutes of our days, hours of our weeks, and years of our life are spent scrolling through emails and deleting them- Shuffling through mail and throwing it away. On each of these occasions, there is a momentary spark of hope. "We have a notification!" We get a sense of excitement to have received something.
But shortly that happiness is deflated and can turn to frustration when what we thought was something like a personalized gift to our computers or mail box- turns out to be the opposite of a gift. Rather than receiving anything we get coupons, promotions, and bills to take something from us or tell us that our life is lacking in some way. These emails, fliers, and promotions tend to convince us that what we have is not good enough. They convince us that the things we might like are really things we most definitely need. Many of us realize this trap and avoid wasting our own time and money by deleting the emails or throwing the mail away without even reading it fully. We are sent so much of what we don't need that sometimes the daily joy and anticipation of receiving things fades away entirely. Those that prefer to maintain an optimistic perspective may feel a propelling urge to check their email first thing in the morning- maybe even before they get out of bed. So often, it is just to be left feeling disappointed. Some live with the hopeful wish that maybe one day a family member, stranger, or friend will send them something special or inspirational, unique and timely...
Maybe there is a way to change that tiny morning disappointment that we barely notice anymore, into a tiny morning joy.
What if something as simple as a daily inspirational email or a tiny handmade gift, could change the way people start their day? How many people would continue their day on a different note if it started differently? I know I would. What if that joyful reminder lasted all week? Or all month? Or all year? What if we created routines that allowed us to propel each others' happiness and build connections with those around us? I believe many of us would benefit from that~whether we realize it right now or not. Gift love to those around you every moment that you can.
