In carrying the cross,
In His humble gratitude towards those by His side,
In His persistence in the face of difficulty,
And his resilience in the midst of pain,
In His generous mercy and selfless forgiveness
to save us from OUR sins...
Jesus modeled what it means to LOVE.
Let us carry our daily crosses
with humble gratitude,
Persistence and resilience,
Showing mercy to forgive those who hurt...
Let us love one another, as Jesus loves us.

An hour of Eucharistic Adoration
August 3rd, 2021
A single flame can be so still.
Yet, why can’t we?
The winds shake and rock us.
They bring us fear.
We let fear start to take over and it attempts to extinguish our life.
The fear won’t go away from us,
But we can cling closer to Christ so that He is what steadies us.
God’s peace does not waver in times of chaos.
He blesses us with it as often as we accept to receive it.
At times, all our flames shiver in the cold.
But be still and cling to Christ.
Christ will calm the storm.
It isn’t our job or responsibility to do so.
Rather, we must stand steadfast to the light.
To be an ember of peace in the dark night.
Love as Jesus does.
With a pure heart, naturally ready to love.
Ready to give and not take.
Ready to be adored by Christ, as we adore Him.
Ready to be held in silence
Silence that heals, calms, and steadies us even during the darkest of unexpected storms.
We are safe and sound with Jesus.
Would you stay with me an hour if you knew it was the last?
Jesus asks that of us.
To make it a regular commitment to intentionally be with Jesus- even if just for a short hour of our day… as He is with us always.
Thank you Lord.
Jesus gives us the breath of life.
Love heals even what seems impossible to mend and restore.
Jesus has got this.
Love heals.
Let us remain forever more ~ calm in Christ.
Amen.

A Holy life
August 17th, 2021
I’ve learned a lot about hope in the last 12 months. I’ve learned that often a hope is like a wish. Our hope for something is our dream for something, and our hope for someone is our wish and dream for them.
We hope that we will have a good day.
We hope it will be nice outside, and that the weather will agree with our plans.
We can even hope that we will feel God’s presence in a more powerful way at mass.
And when it comes to fragile life circumstances, we can hope for health. We can hope to live a long, healthy, happy life.
But what I have come to realize is that for as much as we can hope to live a long, healthy, and happy life...often it is out of our control.
Accidents happen. People get sick. Sad times will come to us...
So we start to ask ourselves, what would qualify… What are the parameters of living a long, healthy, and happy life?
Is long a number of years or a number of decades?
Is long a number of weeks or a number of hours?
Is healthy never getting sick or never having terminal cancer?
Is it never needing surgery or never having to endure an illness in a pandemic?
Is a healthy life one in which our body is physically fit? Or mentally fit?
Is it one in which we eat lots of fruits and vegetables and drink lots of water?
Is it one in which there is great balance in our life- able to indulge and able to implement self control?
Is a healthy life one that is non-toxic and filled with peaceful relationships with our family and friends?
The parameters of a healthy life will most likely differ from person to person, so our definition of a healthy life might not be the same as anyone else around us. What is healthy food to one person may be life threatening to another. What is a healthy amount of exercise to one may cause more damage than good to the next. But there is one thing that we can hope for and strive for that takes away all the gray clouds and confusion. There is something much more black and white which God calls us to.
We can hope to live a holy life. We can wish that for others. We can hope that our family, friends, and coworkers live holy lives in their thoughts, words, and actions.
By holiness, we are clinging to Christ. In holiness, we are choosing love over anger. In holiness, we are choosing to let ourselves experience the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. In our call to holiness, we are choosing to dedicate our time, energy, and belief in our Catholic faith to complete the sacraments, to attend daily mass, to read about the word of God and spread it to those around us… to work to be a saint every day. We can all strive to live holy lives. We can hope to be holy. We can cling to holiness in good times and in bad, through the perfect example of Jesus Christ, as He suffered, died, and rose again for our salvation. We can hope for Heaven, and we can hope to be holy enough to get there. Becoming closer to Jesus and being holier in our daily actions is truly what makes us happier, healthier, and live longer… as we live and hope for eternal life with God in Heaven. Amen.
